FC3 - no mouse or keyboard on booting

I installed Fedora Core 3 on a Dell Precision 530.

On booting I have no mouse or keyboard. These are standard PS2 devices -
nothing fancy.

The Kudzu menu comes up. I can't do anything with it because my mouse
and keyboard don't respond!

I do have a Knoppix disk that I'm able to boot from on this machine. My
mouse and keyboard both work with Knoppix.

How can I fix this? Is there something I can do from Knoppix? (Copy
config files from Knoppix to the hard disk?)

I'd rather not reinstall if I can avoid it.

I previously had Red Had Linux 7.3 installed on the same machine and it
worked fine. I wanted to do a fresh install of Fedora.
