sound problem

I forgot to mention some details:
FC3 2.6.10-1.760
After invoking zapping, dmesg prints this line:
application zapping uses obsolete OSS audio interface

The audio device is set on "kernel device" which is driven by OSS 3.8.16
The control volume with soundcardmixer is driver by "ICH4 OSS 3.8.16"
My soundcard is: 82801 EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC '97
Could there be an incompatability of the soundcard (ICH5) and the 
soundcardmixer (ICH4)?
