Has anyone dumped udev for devfs?

Note:  I did not say it was unstable.  In fact it is the only distro I
use at home.  However, it IS bleeding edge, by design.

The OP said he was going back to Windows because of udev, and my
response is:  if he is not willing to try to use the tools that everyone
else uses then he needs a stable, slower development path distro so he
does not have to deal with the rapid pace of development on FC.  He
thinks udev is too unstable for his use. (He called it alpha testing
stage.) So unless he can live with the current state of udev, he needs
one of the distros that is not, as yet, using udev. (Slower development
track and in his opinion more suitable for his use.
