fc3+slmodem won't send/receive bytes

Hmm. Looks like you're nearly there.
Try
ping 202.148.11.34
to see if you can ping your DNS servers.
If not try
route
to take a look at your routing table, and
ping 202.148.8.129
to check that you can ping the other end of the link.
If you *can* ping your DNS servers, check the contents of
/etc/resolv.conf and add these lines:
nameserver 202.148.11.34
nameserver 202.148.11.40
Then try google again.
If that doesn't get it working, can you please respond (to the list!)
and let us know how you're doing?
