Humm, obviously I'm not getting a dns response.  The ip address works.  
Damn verizon's sickly dns servers, first they attack me, then they 
refuse to serve me.  But other stuff works by FQDN just fine.  I'm 
gonna power down everything outside the firewall and get a new lease.
testing before I do that, their secondary dns doesn't even respond to 
a ping at its ip addy.  Real pro's, those guys with all their M$ 
servers.  I'd move, but they are the only game in town for dsl.
