javaws hangs under FC3

I recently loaded FC3 on a Tecra M2.  Have managed to get most things
working, including the built in wireless (thanks Jim).  One of the last
things I needed to do was get a number of java programs working.  I have
successfully run these programs under FC2 using javaws to start them.  

Under FC3 I found that this did not work as expected.  I initially
downloaded and installed the latest java package from Sun,
j2sdk-1_4_2_07-linux-i586.rpm.  Install went fine and was able to setup
the link for firefox to use java applications.

However when I setup to use javaws I found that a zombie process would
get started and then the main javaws process would hang using almost
100% of the CPU.  

I did some searches through the list archives and found mention of what
sounds like a similar problem back in November.  No fix or solution was
provided just an indication that this is a bug.

I did go back and try the exact same version of java that works under
FC2, j2re-1_4_2_04-linux-i586.rpm with the same results.

I did find one other reference on the web to the same kind of problem. 
They indicate that there is a call to waitid in javaws with no
arguments.  Apparently the older glibc did not do any sanity checking of
the arguments so it would exit and continue.  The current glibc
apparently checks these options and hangs. 

I did a search of bugzilla but did not see anything similar to this.

What I am not sure of is is this a javaws bug or a glibc bug?

I have submitted bug 147493 on this problem.

Does anyone have a current work around?  I am trying to get this new
laptop operational for work but without those java scripts I can not
move over to it yet.
