When used in conjunction with rpm2cpio (which there is a brief manpage
for).

Example:
$ rpm2cpio kernel-2.6.5-1.358.i586.rpm | cpio -i -d --no-absolute-
filenames '*advansys.ko'

which I used to extract
lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/kernel/drivers/scsi/advansys.ko from
kernel-2.6.5-1.358.i586.rpm.
