I would look at the init script in your initrd and see what the mount
command for the root filesystem looks like. Mine looks like this:
mount -o defaults --ro -t ext3 /dev/root /sysroot
So, if you have to explicitly include reiser support, maybe it's not
altering the mount command with the correct type.
