Hi there!

What version of VMWare are you running? I have been running VMWare 5 
beta, RC1 and RC2 since they came out on my AMD-64 (different kernel 
versions, also the 2.6.10-1.766_FC3 x86-64) without any major problems.
I assume you did the vmware-config.pl as root??
