Is mixing yum repos ok?

probably depends upon which repos and which tools and user's
capabilities for fixing things if they go awry

I might recommend smartpm...

yum --enablerepo-dag install smart smart-gui smart-update

it supposedly has abilities to handle/suggest fixes for cross-repo
conflicts
