Install completed but boot failure

Which bootloader option did you select during the installation? Grub on
Master Boot Record?

Try booting from the DVD again and enter "linux rescue" at the boot
prompt. You should eventually be able to get to a shell prompt where you
can enter:

# chroot /mnt/sysimage
# grub-install /dev/hda

That'll have another go at installing grub on your Master Boot Record.

Yes, but that would be a step backwards so I wouldn't do it.
