firefox question re mpg download disposal

That is and has been for ages, set to "ask for every download".  It 
never asked.  But its fetched several hundred tar.gz's and .bz2's 
with no problems whatsoever.  Asking me each time, and when I change 
the dl directory it uses what I tell it.
