However, you can get around it using LVM.  Create mirrors (RAID 1), and 
than add them as phycical volumes into volume group.  Not the same thing 
as native RAID 0+1 (or 1+0), but you'll get something similar.

It would be cool if it was possible to use md device as component of 
another md device (would conviniently solve some other problems too).
