HTTP not working

Thanks to all who offered their suggestions. Nothing seemed to work, so 
I downloaded an installed Ubuntu Linux instead, and it works like a 
charm. It's running a 2.6.8 kernel, so it's not a problem with the later 
kernels, as one person suggested. It's a problem that is specific to 
Fedora Core 3.

I'm kind of sad that after so many years of RedHat/Fedora use, I finally 
have to switch distributions to get a useful system. I sincerely hope 
that my experience is unique, and not a reflection on the overall 
quality of Fedora.
