Problems with slogin and gnome terminal with FC3

Hi
In order to simplify administration of several machines, I use a very
simple script to fire off a gnome terminal on the remote machine. On my
desktop I run
slogin -f -l root 127.0.0.1 gnome-terminal
On FC-1 this worked fine, but I recently upgraded my desktop to FC3 and
I get the following when I try to fire off a root window on this desktop
machine (hence the 127.0.0.1)...
The program 'gnome-terminal' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)'.
(Details: serial 71 error_code 5 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)
I have got round the problem temporarily by using xterm instead of
gnome-terminal, but this seriously reduces the functionality of the
arrangement (eg cut/paste doesn't work).
Is there a way round this issue???
