How to get /media/cdrecorder to reappear without rebooting

Hello, Everyone :)
I am continuing to have the problem that is referred to in the following
message from this list:

Of course I would love to have some insight into what is actually causing my
external, USB 2 CD burner to dissappear for reasons that I know not of. But
the purpose of this thread is to find out if there is a way I can reset
something so that I can get my cdburner back without rebooting.
