mouse stopped working

Well you need to break the problem down.  

Possible problems could be a bad mouse, bad usb port, or a configuration
change on your system.

Since this particular mouse worked originally and I assume for the
moment that you did not change any configuration items during the move I
would suspect a mouse failure, possibly a crimped or broken cable.  To
quickly eliminate that as a possibility try that mouse on a different
system and try a known working mouse on your laptop.

If the mouse does work on a different system and a known working mouse
does not work on your laptop then check the usb port for physical
damage.  If none is evident then check your log files for indications of
a software or configuration error.  

I would suspect the mouse cable has been crimped or damaged during
transport.
