Possible gnome-vfs problem

I have exactly the same symptoms as above, in Gnome, with a fresh
install of Core 3. The sound card model reported in my case is
"Corporation nForce2 AC97 Audio Controler (MCP)", module is "snd-
intel8x0".
Any help much appreciated.
