My core 3 install's sound stopped working!

I'm having exactly the same problem. The latest kernel upgrade seems to
have broken sound for me completely. It doesn't matter whether I use
oss or alsa, the application thinks it's shuttling data to the card, but
I can't hear a thing.

I have an intel_8x0 onboard card, like yourself.

I believe this is probably a driver problem. Might be this one in bugzilla:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=138504

but I'm not sure...that one looks a tad too old to have been caused by
the latest kernel alone.
