Hello.

To use KDE instead of GNOME as your default desktop you have to follow
this steps
Edit:
/etc/sysconfig/desktop

change :
DESKTOP="GNOME"
to:
DESKTOP="KDE"

... and to use KDM as login screen add to de mentioned file:
DISPLAYMANAGER=KDE

After that, go to a shell and as root type 'init 3' to go to text mode
and 'init 5' to return to graphics mode.
In case you did not unterstand rhe init procedure, simply reboot.

After that, when presented to the login screen remember to choose KDE,
just in case the system saved your prefered desktop as GNOME in your
preferences.
