Go for the certification, it will be useful reguardless.  You might also be 
able to use your certification as a justification for the company using RHEL.

One thing though, wait until RHEL 4 is out that way your cert will be good 
thru RHEL 5 and will expire when RHEL 6 comes out.  Just an idea.
