Network Device Control strangeness

Hi all,

When I launch Network Device Control under Gnome the list of devices is
empty and so I cannot configure, activate or deactivate anything.

This is despite the fact that my ethernet connection is correctly
configured (it's sending this e-mail to y'all).  

What?
