For 2.6.10 kernels you should apply a couple of patches to the driver 
before installing it. You will need the latest driver from nVidia 
(6629)The patches are attached. To install them, just do the do the 
following:

cd /path/to/nvdriver_.run_file
./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run --extract-only
cd NVIDIA-Linux-x56-1.0-6629-pkg1
patch -p0 -i /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-6629-1165235.diff.txt
patch -p0 -i /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-6629-1171869.diff.txt
su
passord:
./nvidia-installer
