I have no sound but sound device works

I did it with the Desktop > System Settings > Soundcard Detection tool.
Having become root, I get a dialog where I can choose between 2 sound
devices Ensoniq and Intel. But at the bottom of the dialog I again have
to choose between 2 options. It is important to choose the right one.
