Did I make a mistake in starting with Fedora Core 4?

FC4 seems stable for most programs that I use. Only problem I have
with it is the little Alert icon, but I will deal with that. I can
still get updates through yum, and up2date. I upgraded from FC3 and
both seem like a good start for a person that wants to really learn
Linux.
The archives are very helpful. Search them first before posting any problems.
