I have not worked with the 23 inch Apple Cinema display, but I have
worked with the 30 inch model. For the 30 inch, you need a graphics card
that can handle the monitor. Are you using some kind of converter to go
from HD15 on your mobo to DVI? Does the DVI connector you are plugging
the display into have pins in the middle of the connector, or are they
missing? I tried a DVI-DVI extender that did NOT have the middle pins,
and the Apple display would never come up. Once I got my hands on the
correct DVI-DVI connector, the displays worked fine. The display would
not power on until it was plugged into a graphics card, and the graphics
card was outputting a signal.
