Paul,

Thank you for helping.   I am about ready to start a bug report for
gnome.  The proper name is in the network file as well as in the host
file.  Once I get past the warning message I have not been able to
detect any problems or lack of function with the PC.  It uses all DNS
servers as well as the host file properly for pings, ssh, browsing etc.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.
