Back again after a while.
I tried following:
# rpm -q dhcp
This gives me o/p as "Package dhcp not installed"
So i tried:
# yum install dhcp
Following is the o/p:
-------------------
Setting up Install process
Setting up repositories
Can not find a valid base url for reno:
updates-released
---------------
I am giving some more info below:
I am on
1)Dell Inspiron 9300
2)currently with dual boot system - WinXP and FC4. On
winXP - internet connection is ok.
3)Connecting to ISP through cable modem (ISP - Road
Runner). Here i confirmed that they provide dynamic IP
address through DHCP.
4)Device used: Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated
Controller
I am aslo having wireless card but currently do not
have wireless router.
When i installed the FC4 - it recognised the hardware
and i am getting Broadcom set for eth0.
---------------------------------------
I tried following:
#service dhcpd status
Unrecognised service
#service network status
Configured device
lo eth0
Currently active devices
lo eth0
#service network stop
Shutting down loopback interface : OK
Shutting down interface eth0 : FAILED
#service network start
Bringing up loopback interface : OK
Bringing up interface eth0 :
Determining IP Information for eth0....:FAILED
When i try very first time after reboot:
#sudo dhclient
...DHCP Client V3.0.2
..
Listening on LPF/eth0/00:12:3f:d1:a9:d6
Sending on LPF/eth0/00:12:3f:d1:a9:d6
Sending on socket/fall back
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
interval 8
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
interval 16
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
interval 8
DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67
interval 20
No DHCPOFFERS received. No working leases in
persistent database - Sleeping
--------------------------------------
The above is only for the first time, but then onwards
i get something like below
dhclient (4781) is already running - exiting
I believe either i do not have dhcpd or not configured
properly. Pls help me.
regards
Manisha
