Here is the scenario. My local machine is
dark.unix with ip address 1.2.3.4
My remote machine, on the universities network is light.unix
I log into light.unix with the command
ssh -X light.unix
This opens up a terminal as if I had telneted into light.unix. I then
try to run an application, say emacs, with the command
emacs -display 1.2.3.4:0
This fails with the error message
Can't open display 1.2.3.4:0
