Steve,

I don't see anything significantly different.  The only thing I can
suggest to try is setting 'allow from all' in the printer GUI.

Trying to narrow this down a bit, do you get a 'connection refused'
error if you telnet from box #2 to box #1 on port 631? 

        telnet 192.168.0.2 631
        
Here, telnetting from the client to the server on port 631 does not
produce an error.  Hitting return closes the connection.  What do you
get if you run firefox localhost:631 on box #1?  You should see
deskjet-5550-2.

Some other things to check:  Do both machines have a subnet mask of
255.255.255.0 and broadcast mask of 192.168.0.255?  As a last resort, if
possible, try using a subnet number other than zero for the IP addresses
of your two machines (e.g. 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3).

Also check /var/log/messages and /var/log/cups/* for cups errors on the
client and server.

Other than that, I'm at a loss, sorry.
