rsync errors

Hello All

I have been seeing some errors on my rsync transfers, and I am not sure 
if it is FC4, SELinux, rsync, user error, or something else.

I have MANY of the following 2 errors
rsync: mkstemp 
"/home/backup/snapshots/cache.0/plank9/jprojects/conf/.conf.jpx.local.W4KNkg" 
failed: Permission denied (13)
rsync: failed to set times on 
"/home/backup/snapshots/cache.0/plank9/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost/balancer": 
Operation not permitted (1)

I am invoking rsync like this

rsync --stats --exclude=*.log -azv -e ssh //plank9/c$/jprojects 
//plank9/c$/tomcat //plank9/c$/properties 
backup at reddawn.dyndns.org:~/snapshots/cache.0/plank9/

Note: what is the filename.<randomstuff>   mean (i.e 
.conf.jpx.local.W4KNkg)
