I had the same messages as Sharon. Turns out that
0.pool.ntp.org
1.pool.ntp.org
2.pool.ntp.org

are NOT resolvable from this location. Not terribly surprising, I'm
located in Panama.

A few changes to /etc/ntp.conf and I'm back in business.
