No virtual consoles if some graphic mode starts...

It's a know bug and it's been answered a lot on this list:

You have to replace /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libvgahw.a
with
ftp://people.redhat.com/mharris/libvgahw.a

Then restart X and it should work
