You have to offer exact data, crystal ball watching isn't that
attractive. Be aware that SASL is the central tool for authentication
tasks, both used by Cyrus-IMAPd as well by the MTA like Sendmail. "man
imapd.conf" should be helpful.

Why not? You sure can use Sendmail / Cyrus-IMAPd -> SASL -> SQL backend.
