hi,
i have placed the proper firmware files in the proper folder.
now i'm able to configure a wireless device with the ipw2200.
but when i try to activate it i get this error:

Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
    SET failed on device eth1 ; Operation not supported.
Determining IP information for eth1... failed; no link present. Check
cable?

i do not have any kind of encryption system on my router.

this is my ifcfg-eth1:

/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth1
# Please read /usr/share/doc/initscripts-*/sysconfig.txt
# for the documentation of these parameters.
IPV6INIT=no
ONBOOT=yes
USERCTL=no
PEERDNS=yes
GATEWAY=
TYPE=Wireless
DEVICE=eth1
HWADDR=00:12:f0:42:e4:79
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
NETMASK=
DHCP_HOSTNAME=Morpheus
IPADDR=
DOMAIN=
ESSID=
CHANNEL=1
MODE=Managed
RATE='0 kb/s'

and this is my iwconfig summary:
[root at Morpheus ~]# iwconfig
