xfs is dying / not starting on me :(

xfs is suddenly dying on me. I updated from core 3 to 4 Monday, and all has been
pretty well, but today X will not start because it can't find the Fixed font. It
can't find the font becasue Xfs is not running. When I do a xfs status, it says
it has a pid file, but is dead. How can I find out what is causing this?  I have
disabled selinux and it is still happening.
