I do this by putting the DVD ISO on a web server (might be the same
server as the NFS server for installs), loopback mounting it and running
"createrepo ." in the directory above where the DVD ISO is mounted. I
then have a local yum repository that I can point my machines at for
quick local installs using "yum install packagename". This uses hardly
any extra disk space over and above that needed for the DVD ISO itself.
