I have done this on the remote client:

export DISPLAY=x.x.x.x:0.0

(x.x.x.x is my desktop, X is not listening on port 6000)

then I run thunderbird and I get:

thunderbird -vvvvv

(thunderbird-bin:24316): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

I have repeated the same but without exxport DISPLAY and that does not
work, because thunderbird thinks its trying to connect to the remote
client X, which isn't running.

Thanks is advance
Dan
