FC4 sound card correctly detected, but no sound

The snd_intel8x0m module is for a modem, yes. Several people have to
blacklist that module so that it is not loaded any longer.
Did you check mixer settings with alsamixer in a terminal? It may show
more/better where a setting is to be changed.
