The one comment on Slashdot that I liked was that this is this.
Listen people, whenever a commercial application is ported over to
Linux it is good for the effort to get Linux on the desktop. It
doesn't matter if there are already command line tools out there that
will do the same thing. So what? Yeah there are graphical front ends
available for these command line tools available...but once again, so
what? If they support linux, I have to support them. If you prefer
FOSS applications, that's cool. But we need the commercial
applications as well and this is one of the best commercial
applications out there.......
Now I don't like paying for software if I don't have to but this is
different than paying for a Linux application. What Nero wants is for
me to pay for a Windows application to get a Linux app. This is what
I fired a email off to Nero about.
I like the idea that more commercial software companies are looking at
Linux but I think they are in for a rude awakening as there are many
applications that are free that work very well and would be their
direct competition.
Commercial applications will drive Linux farther onto the desktop and
this is good no matter which way you look at it. :)
