Problem with gam_server

I have had the same problem.  No matter how hard I tried there was actually 
no way I could find to kill gam_server.  I searchde the net high and low !
even tried commands like
kill -9 <process_id> && umount <cddrive>
But to no avail.
If you find out, please let me know
