It happened to me as well. What you have to do is to make a *symbolic link* to
/usr/java/jre1.5.0/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so*
inside the /usr/lib/firefox-1.0.1/plugins folder.
(At least, that's what solved to me.)
