Ah, finally found something. My problem had to do with 
/usr/sbin/alternatives. The bugzilla report that got me on the right 
track to the solution was 
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=114243. The command in 
question is: /usr/sbin/alternatives --display print. My solution was to 
create the link /etc/alternatives/print -> 
/usr/local/linuxprinter/bin/llpr.cups.
