Suspend on Fedora

Dear All

Now something on topic. Inspired by the slightly off topic discussion about 
energy consumption, I have tried to find out how to use suspend to software 
on Fedora. It seem however rather evolved and not perfectly reliable. Isn't 
there an easier way than to patch and recompile the kernel?
I have given up compiling the official fedora kernel so I'm now using 2.6.11 
from kernel.org.
