There's no Registry to corrupt, so no need to reboot in nearly all cases.
and in situations where a reboot of service "blarg" is necessary

service blarg restart

is almost always what you want. I've seen Linux boxes run for months
without a reboot, and I've heard of systems running years without a bounce.

On my Linux systems, there is a reboot option from the GNOME "Log Out" menu.
>From the GDM greeter (the "login screen") there is also a choice to reboot
or shutdown the system. On my computers, pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE causes a
reboot, and pressing the power button causes a graceful halt. Controls for
this are in /etc/inittab.

Glad you like Linux, and I hope this helps you.
