folders in /tmp are missing

Hi,

A few days ago I posted a message about missing lost+found in /tmp of my
fc3 system A. Now, I found more strange things: all folders under /tmp
are missing:

# ls -l /tmp/
total 0

The system log does not show anything related to /tmp. In my another
testing fc3 system B, I have:

# ls -l /tmp/
total 60
drwx------ 3 root root 4096 Mar 1 14:34 gconfd-root
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Mar 1 14:34 keyring-PuXOvH
drwx------ 2 root root 16384 Dec 15 08:34 lost+found
srwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Mar 1 14:35 mapping-root
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Mar 3 14:21 orbit-root
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Mar 1 14:34 ssh-dXnlyL5225
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Feb 28 16:25 ssh-xtfeIp3820

(since it is a testing system, there is little activity).

My questions are: the partition /tmp is always empty, will that cause any
potential problem because those folders are missing? What are the
purposes of folders gconfd-root, keyring-PuXOvH etc., as well as
mapping-root, orbit-root? Is there any way to put /tmp back in the normal
status?

Thanks!

Hongwei Li
