Protecting poor virus-prone windows users is probably the most
compelling reason, but Linux viruses do exist.  A google on "linux
viruses" will turn up a few, but also considerable discussion on why
they are not as great a threat.  There have also been reports of windows
viruses doing nasty things under Linux via wine or Crossover Office.
