Disconnecting an IOMEGA USB Zip 250

Hello all,

I'm hoping that someone here will be able to help with this. I've checked the 
web, and posted to a couple of forums without getting any results. 
I'm running Fedora Core 3 with all current updates installed. The kernel is 
2.6.10-1.770_FC3.

I have a Iomega Zip250 USB powered drive which seems to work fine. However, 
when I disconnect the drive from a USB port, the following messages are written 
to my /var/log/messages file.

This message keeps repeating. Not knowing how to stop this, I rebooted my 
system. I then ran a test using a ScanDisk 128MB USB memory stick and running 
"tail -f /var/log/messages" in a terminal window. I plugged the stick in, 
mounted it, unmounted it and removed the device. This was followed my doing the 
same with my Zip250. The results of the /var/log/messages are below:

As you can see, I was able to disconnect the memory stick without problems, but 
for some reason the disconnect of the Zip does not seem to be recognized. 

Alan Stern on the linux-usb-users list thought the issue may be with the haldaemon and suggested that I try turning it off.
I did this and I no longer received any messages written to /var/log/messages. After restarting the haldaemon the messages returned. He, Stern, then suggested that I post the problem to this list.
