I wonder a bit that powernow-k8 seems to do some things while you
commented the driver in cpuspeed.conf and the kernel module is not
loaded. I would suggest you activate powernow-k8 in /etc/cpuspeed.conf
by removing the leading # in the DRIVER= line and restarting the
cpuspeed service with "service cpuspeed restart". The powernow-k8 module
should then be listed by lsmod. You can in a different terminal follow
the syslog messages while reconfiguring and restarting cpuspeed by
running "tail -f /var/log/messages".
