is fedora okay for people just playing around?

Matthew -

Fedora should be just fine for you. Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is
essentially based on Fedora, so the manuals for RHEL are really good
resources. Have a look at http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/
and especially read "Red Hat Enterprise Linux Introduction to System
Administration" at that same location.

When you have questions, feel free to post them here, but read
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html first so that you have a
good guideline about how to ask questions so that they are easy to
understand and answer.

As someone else mentioned, posting HTML messages to this list tends to cause
some people to go all sideways and cranky on you, so it is best avoided.

Welcome to the Fedora community! It's just like a big family, hugs and
bickering and all. We're glad you're here!
